At least he seems to wish he could be. He is constantly trying to fit himself into various toys. The latest venture was an attempt to get into the doll house. Previously he has tried to "slide" down his car racing ramps. He really seems to want to fit and think that he can or that I can help. When trying to fit in the house he kept signing for me to please help, lol. :P Sure let me just aim the "honey I shrunk the kids" ray beam on you! Hehe...

Recent Favorites
Yesterday the Moogle was video chatting with Grandma and Grandma asked if she could type her name. She replied by spelling her name out loud. Grandma told her good job, now could she find the letters on the keyboard and type it. "I can't. There's only one A!"
She is also stuck on calling scribbling "scrubbling" and very insistent that I am the one who is wrong.
I had to pick Buddy up early from school for a doctor's appointment last week (ear infection). So, Daddy got to pick up the Moogle. On his way out he ran into a friend and they were talking then he turns to leave. "Daddy! no, no! You're forgetting Buddy!" Troll Daddy... "Oh, he went to live with the gypsies. He won't be coming home with us anymore." The Moogle (now close to tears): "No! No! But Daddy, I like him!" (Something she wouldn't normally admit - ha! Should have had the tape recorder!) ;)
Buddy was "begging" for pieces of a bagel I was eating and kept saying and signing "more please." I would give him a little piece and he'd sit next to me and eat it, then ask again. Inevitably, I finished the bagel. So he's asks for "more please" and i show him the empty plate. He shakes his head and says "no more" looking all despondent. I had to laugh! :)

Labeling
My Little Bud has entered the labeling phase. He goes around pointing to everything in sight saying "That?" "That?" Eventually he will add in the "what's" I imagine. When we answer his inquiry he gives a curt little nod then moves onto the next item of interest. A little sponge absorbing it all. This really is one of my favorite stages. It's so exciting to see what interests them.
He chose a book about space for a bedtime story the other night and as I was reading he points to a star and says "star!" He was so excited about it and proud that he could tell me what it was. Later, I learned that he had also chosen a star stamper for an art project at school that day.

Hair Cut
So, a few weeks back my little girl told me: "You can use your scissors to cut my hair." "Really? You want me to cut your hair?" was my reply. "Or you could use my scissors if you want." "How short would you want me to cut your hair?" "Like Daddy's." (Note look of surprise on my face at this point) "People always comment how pretty your hair is. Why would you want to cut it all off? Do you not like the attention?" "No, I don't want you to have to brush it anymore." Ahhh... a practical response. It was obvious she had put thought into this idea. I suppose I am lucky she only took her scissor to her doll's hair and not her own.
So, now I had something to think about. I love her hair. Beautiful, blond curls. People really are always commenting on it. Do I honor her request to chop it all off? What if it never grows back the same?
I took a few weeks to think it over.
I have a friend who has a son. He has had a thick, full head of beautiful hair since he was born. She never wanted to cut it, but was worried how people would often refer to her son as a girl and not a boy even though he was always definitely dressed like a boy. When she asked what i thought I told her I felt it was fine for her to keep his hair as she wanted, but only until he expressed that he wanted it differently. Why should a girl be any different?
And so, in honor of letting my daughter make her own choices about her looks/style (and of the movie Tangled because I think that's where she got the idea) I agreed to cut her hair. My only stipulation was that we only go as short as Mommy's hair to start. Hopefully that will resolve the tangled, long, curly hair issues. She was very excited and well behaved during the cut and seemed to really like it when I was done (even despite Daddy's teasing comments). So, so far so good! We'll see how the brushing goes in the morning. :P

Literally
So, we had to be somewhere early in the morning and I ask if we were going to eat breakfast at home or on the road. We decided that eating on the road would get us more sleep, so that was the way to go (anything for some more sleep these days)! My literal little girl pipes in with "We can't do that! The cars and trucks would hit us! We would get hurt!" Took a second to realize it wasn't that she was concerned about our ability to drive and eat. She actually thought eating "on the road" meant just that! And, I agree, that would not be a very safe thing to do. Sometimes she must just think Mommy and Daddy have lost it!
And, sometimes it's fun to use a phrase just to see what Miss Literal will do. She was trying to squeak a little squeaker in one of her books, but her hand was too small to get the right angle on it. So, she asked for my help and I told her "use your head." And, of course she did; literally. :P She was quite pleased that it worked too. And, while she may not have realized it, she "used her head" in the way the phrase intends as well, when she realized she could also use her foot to get the same force as her head with less discomfort.

Cleaning Man
So, it's good to let the kids help out around the house, right? They can pick up their toys, dust, sweep, maybe put away their clothes. The problem comes in when the younger little imitator is watching.... Cute when he picks up the duster and "sweeps" the floor; not so cute when.....
I'm in the bathroom brushing the Moogle's teeth. Her brother waddles in, opens up one of the drawers and takes out a brush. Not a big deal, he likes to "brush his hair." So, I continue on with the task at hand only to realize a few seconds later that the brush is being used for an entirely different purpose this time. Little Buddy had taken the brush over to the toilet, opened the lid and is busily "scrubbing" the inside of the toilet bowl with the hair brush...... :P Gross!!! You can guess where the hair brush ended up after this. I appreciate the attempt to help little guy, but I think we will keep you on toy pick up and dusting duty only for a few more years! :P

3 Going On.....
I swear, some days I wonder if i didn't miss 10 years somewhere along the way. Not only does Ms. Moogle go around saying she is going to drive herself places (in her little pink jeep of course), but she came home from school the other day and told us that she loves one of the boys in her class! I really thought I had at least a few more years until that started! :P
Plus, her sassy little comebacks make me feel like I walked straight into the halls of a middle school. About a year ago if we said something she didn't like she would accuse us of being "So Sad!" We thought it was pretty darn cute and would use the term right back at her. But now if we say or do something she doesn't like her comeback is "You're not going to be invited to my party!" or the newest "You're not my best friend anymore!" Uuuuggghhhh!!!! :P
