Book Worm

You know you have a book worm on your hands when....

Moogle kept asking me how to spell words while doing her homework, so I went and got her my old dictionary and showed her how to use it.  She was thrilled!  And, she proceeded to READ, yes, READ the Dictionary for a good half-hour or so.  :P

Drawing

Buddy loves to draw and paint, but his works of art are generally full page scribbles.  So, when I saw him drawing this I was quite surprised.

" Look Mommy!  I drew a picture of Anakin!  Sorry it looks like a bird." - Buddy  (That's Anakin as in Anakin Skywalker, for those who are wondering.  We have a bit of a Star Wars fan on our hands ;))

"I'll Build You a Robot , Mommy"

Buddy: "When I'm big I'm going to live in Mexico.  But, don't worry, Mommy.  I'll build you a robot to keep you company."

From the Mouth of a 3 Year Old

Sometimes my kids say things that make me do a "double take."  This has happened at least twice with Mr. Buddy in the last few weeks.  I'm starting to wonder if the reason I have difficulty understanding him sometimes is because he is saying words I don't expect him to say as opposed to just being 3 and mumbling or talking too fast.  Well, maybe it's both....  Those who have been around him recently know that he talks non-stop from sun-up to sun-down (or from son-up to son-down as a friend of mine likes to say).  So, here are the two most recent instances where my 3 year old's vocabulary has made me feel like I might need to return to school (or to pre-school at least!).

Buddy after flushing the potty: "Look!  The water is all clean and white."
Me: "Actually, the water is clear, like in the sink, but the toilet bowl is white."
Showing him the water coming from the faucet: "See, you can see through it."
Buddy: "Oh, you mean it's transparent!"

Buddy was chattering away while I was getting breakfast ready.
Me: "Do you want some Monster Mini Wheats?" (a while back the box had the Monster University characters on it and the name stuck even though the new box has Spiderman)
Buddy:  "Roar!  That's an onomatopoeia!"
Me: "Did you just say onomatopoeia?"
Buddy: "Yeah.  Roar!  Boom!  Crash!  Bam!  Those are onomatopoeias!"

Puntastic

Buddy found an old paper mache volcano in the garage and we decided to make it erupt.  Volcanoes are one of his favorite things right now after reading about them with sister in one of the Magic Tree House books.  He's watching in fascination and I ask him what he thinks he replies "It's lavaly!"  Such a silly boy!

Remember Me

Moogle - "Mommy, may I have your camera?"
Me - "What do you want to take a picture of?"
Moogle - "I want to take a picture of my penguin sled so you can remember it when I am no longer with you; when I am bigger and live in my own place."
Me - (Glad she clarified, but still silently crying inside as I hand over my camera)
